When is Identity Theft not Identity Theft?
Drawing the line at cyber-harassment
Notes from our Chairman, Adam K. Levin

If you ever wondered how vast and unpredictable a frontier the Internet can be, ask any victim of online slander or financial fraud. An identity comprises numerous pieces of data, and misuse of any of those pieces can prove to be devastating, be it financially or socially. But which pieces of our identity are--or should be--protected by identity theft laws? Does cyber-harassment really amount to identity theft? Right now, it's up to the individual states to decide. Some already have, and think that it does. We're not so sure we agree with them.
In this month's newsletter, "Cyber-Bullying, Identity Theft-- or Both?" outlines recent harassment cases brought before the courts under identity theft laws. This month's editorial, "Invading OurSpace," recognizes the dire need to address online harassment but warns that this emerging trend could be detrimental to the fight against identity theft.

Is there a cover up in Tulsa?

November 2007

Enhanced Emeralds —

The Clever Cover-up

When it comes to gems, "enhanced" sounds good, but that word signals a cover-up. Here’s the skinny on the good, the bad, and the ugly of emerald enhancement.
Emerald is one of the four "precious gems" (along with diamond, ruby and sapphire), so most people assume emeralds are expensive. Well, some are and some aren’t.
Emeralds, lovely as they are, often have inclusions or fractures. That’s the nature of this gem material. In fact, a natural emerald with only minimal fissures is so rare that it’s worth far more than a diamond of similar carat weight and clarity.

Many good-quality emeralds used in jewelry have minor surface flaws. Oiling, a routine practice that’s been done for hundreds of years, improves the appearance of the stones and does not affect their value or durability.

-- and what it means to insurers

Tulsa say thank you to our Troops....((( Just do it!)))

Takes only a couple of seconds!

Something cool that Xerox is doing

If you go to this web site
, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xer ox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.

How
AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!  This is a great site.  Please send a card.   It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?   Whether you are for or against the war, our guys and gals over there need to know we are behind them...
